Popular course was also the highest ranked Oregon Course in Ranking of Top Public Courses and included in the top 10 most challenging courses.
The uniquely themed Langdon Farms Golf Club was honored once again by the Readers of the Portland Business Journal as the “#1 Course in Oregon To Host A Tournament or Corporate Event.” The annual ranking is determined by surveys of readers of Portland Business Journal and was published in their 2009 Book of Lists. Langdon Farms ranked ahead of notables such as Sunriver Resort, Pumpkin Ridge and Bandon Dunes to name a few. This marks the fifth consecutive year Langdon Farms topped all others in this category of the best courses to hold a golf tournament or corporate event.
The John Fought-Bob Cupp design at Langdon Farms also was ranked #2 in the Journal’s ranking of the top Public Courses and was highest ranked course in Oregon included on this prestigious listing. Readers also ranked Langdon Farms amongst in the top ten most challenging courses in the region.
“On behalf of Langdon Farms Golf Club we both want to sincerely thank readers of the Portland Business Journal and all of the loyal patrons of Langdon Farms Golf Club for honoring us as the #1 course to host corporate events and tournaments and as the top public course in Oregon,” stated Chris and Tom Maletis co-owners of Langdon Farms Golf Club.
“Congratulations to the entire team at Langdon Farms for achieving this honor.” stated David Goff vice president of operations for OB Sports Golf Management (the management company overseeing operations at Langdon Farms). “Last year alone Langdon’s team of event experts hosted over 135 golf tournaments and nearly 100 banquets, meetings and/or weddings. Clearly the team truly gives each event planner personalized service and support that is second to none - creating successful and memorable events that consistently exceed the expectations of all involved,” added Goff.
Rated four out of five stars by Golf Digest’s Best Places To Play for 2009, Langdon Farms Golf Club is home to 18 holes of stunning golf designed by John Fought and Robert Cupp. Langdon Farms Golf Club opened to rave reviews in 1995 and immediately became a favorite in the Portland area. Over the years, the local, regional and even national golf writers have consistently recognized it as a truly unique golf experience. The "Big Red Barn" Clubhouse, winner of Golf Inc’s "Best New Clubhouse" for 1996, was modeled after the original barn on Mr. Langdon's farm. The original barn, built in 1916, actually comes into play down the left side of the 8th hole. The Big Red Barn clubhouse, creative signage, theme development, and links-style golf course design and maintenance elements have all contributed to the exceptional reputation of Langdon Farms. The golf facility is open, as displayed at the entrance, to the “PUBLIC ONLY” and specializes in hosting tournaments, outings and special events.
